Reasons
There are so many reasons to stop smoking/vaping.
As you prepare to quit, think about your own motives. Remind yourself of them every day. They can inspire you to stop smoking/vaping for good!
For family & friends!

Quitting benefits your loved ones in ways that include:
- I will set a great example for my kids and they will be healthier.
- My family, friends, co-workers, and others will be proud of me.
- I will protect my family and friends from the dangers of secondhand smoke and dangerous chemicals in vaping aerosols.
- I will have more energy to do things with the people I love.
- I will get healthy to make sure I am around to share in my family's special moments.
Smoking/vaping is too expensive!

If you smoke one pack a day, quitting will probably save you $2,000 a year.
If you use 1 pod a day, then you would spend about $120 each month and $1,400 each year on just the pods.
Think about what you could buy:
- A new TV!
- Your next family vacation!
- Or many cups of tea or frozen yogurt!
Those aren't the only savings:
- You’ll pay less for health and life insurance.
- You’ll incur fewer costs due to tobacco/nicotine-related problems and frequent trips to the doctor.
- With no late-night trips to the store for cigarettes or e-cig refills, you’ll gain more freedom and time–which can be immeasurable.
Smoking/vaping makes me sick!

Smoking immediately harms nearly every organ of the body.
Your Brain: Nicotine literally changes your mind. It is as addictive as heroin. When quitting, you may feel anxious, irritable and have strong cravings.
Your Ears/Eyes/Mouth: Smoking may cause hearing loss, low night vision, cataracts, cavities, teeth loss, gum disease, as well as cancers of mouth and throat.
Your Face: Smoking/vaping causes dry skin, wrinkles, and stretch marks.
Your Heart: Smoking/vaping nicotine stresses the heart and raises blood pressure. It increases your risks of blood clots, stroke, and heart attacks. Remember that one pod contains the same amount of nicotine as 20 cigarettes.
Your DNA: Every cigarette damages your DNA and may lead to cancer. One-third of all cancer deaths are caused by tobacco.
Vaping isn’t as harmless as you might think. Vaping can cause “popcorn lung” that causes permanent scarring in your lung airways. Popcorn lung can make breathing difficult, and there is currently no treatment for it.
Vaping is also known to cause a severe lung illness called EVALI (E-cigarette or Vaping use-Associated Lung Injury). About 95% of 2,000 patients were hospitalized with EVALI and resulted in 68 deaths. Most were younger than 35
Improving my health!

Smoking is the #1 cause of preventable death in the United States — 443,000 deaths a year.
Quitting reduces your future risk of cancer, heart attacks, stroke, and your immune system will improve so you will be less likely to get sick.
Quitting vaping reduces your future risk of cancer. Vaping aerosols have known carcinogens that may increase cancer risk, such as acetaldehyde and formaldehyde. Vaping aerosols also contain other chemicals that may cause organ damage, like diacetyl, which causes popcorn lung, and diethylene glycol which is linked to lung disease.
Vaping contains ultrafine particles that can be inhaled deep into the lungs.
Quitting means no more withdrawal symptoms caused by nicotine in cigarettes and e-cigarettes
You’ll literally add years—quality years—to your life by quitting now.
No more bad breath & B.O!

Quitting smoking/vaping has a direct benefit on your appearance.
Smoking or vaping can have bad effects on your oral health. Nicotine use is also linked with tooth loss. Vaping causes mouth dryness, which can produce bad breath, mouth sores, and even cause tooth decay.
Your skin will look healthier, and you will look more youthful. Your teeth and fingernails will not be stained.
Guys will also be less likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction!
Breathing clearly again!

After only two months of quitting smoking, you’ll be coughing and wheezing less. Your blood is less thick. Blood flow to your hands and feet has improved.

Because I'm pregnant!

It is best to quit smoking/vaping before you get pregnant or as soon as you find out.
Still, quitting at any time benefits you and your baby.
- Increases baby’s oxygen levels.
- Increases baby’s lung function.
- Lowers risk of premature birth and/or miscarriage.
- Lowers the risk of low-birth weight.
To avoid coronavirus!

Health experts say ssay smoking and vaping weaken the function of the lungs and could leave people more susceptible to a serious case of coronavirus (COVID-19).
COVID-19, a respiratory illness, is now a pandemic. It continues to make people sick.
“For most respiratory infections, you worry about people who smoke a bit more,” said one university professor. “[Smokers are] more likely to get [coronavirus] and their immune system is less good.”
Teens and young adults who vape are 5-7 times more likely to be infected with COVID-19 than those who do not vape.
Quit now and reduce your risk of getting COVID-19!
Fortunately, within 72 hours of quitting smoking, healthy cells begin to replace damaged ones in the lungs, and the lungs regain full capacity. Basically, this means now is a good time to quit smoking and vaping!
To protect the environment!

Smoking and vaping are bad for the planet.
Disposable vapes, pods, vape batteries, etc., all add more waste. Vape devices create plastic waste, which takes 100s of years to decompose.
Cigarette butts are one of the most littered items found on roadsides, beaches, and rivers.
Cigarettes and most vapes contain nicotine and carcinogens, which have been considered an acute hazardous waste, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
